Elsa in Ecuador: Update Número Uno!

Hello friends and family!

If you are reading this, you have invested into my life and played a huge part in supporting and encouraging me. I know that it is impossible to walk this journey of life alone!

On Monday (December 18th) I leave the country to spend 27 days in Ecuador as a Music Teacher Intern with ACTION International Ministries. The anticipation of this trip has often been mixed with feelings of inadequacy, anxiety, excitement, fear, and joy (and sometimes all at the same time which I didn't know was possible?!). I have been preparing and praying for this trip for over four months, and now the time has come to leave!!! This verse has often put my heart in a place of peace:

"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed. For the LORD your God is with you wherever you go."
(Joshua 1:9)

Because of so many people's generous hearts, my trip is fully funded. God has provided for this trip in many miraculous ways!

As I sit here writing this post, my heart is burdened even though it is joyful. It is burdened because I know that there are many people who do not have the best gift of all: the free gift of salvation through Jesus Christ our Lord. Please join me in prayer and ask God to use me in any way that He sees fit to show the world His love. Please pray for the people of Ecuador and that God would unblind them to their sin and cause them to turn to Jesus Christ as the only one who can fulfill them. If you would like to commit to pray for me for one day while I am away, follow this link: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1hr2j0-S3ZnBBR8POZkJzajTRPnZRp2LTn-W1cA4foI8/edit#gid=0.

Specifically, please join me in praying that this keyboard would make it safely to Ecuador. I am taking it as a gift to the missionaries that I am staying with.

My Mom and I packed it tightly with bubble wrap and sealed it. Please pray that it would pass safely through security and that it would make it to the missionaries that I will be staying with in good condition. The music ministry there only has one keyboard which makes it very hard for the students to practice. Musical instruments are also extremely expensive to buy in Ecuador, so please join me in trusting that God will bring this keyboard safely to its destination!

I love you all and I look forward to sending you another update in the next few weeks!

Remember our dear Jesus and all that He has done for us.

Gracias y Feliz Navidad!
Elsa Castro
