What I Deserve

What I Deserve

Almost all my life I have lived
In a country so wealthy
You'd think all would be healthy.

The people all think that they deserve more
More attention, more friends,
And money without end.

And I became a product of this culture
Thinking I deserved
My life to be preserved.

But what we truly merit is found in God's Word
One imperfection
Rightly deserves destruction.

So, I am not entitled to the good or even the bad
Because I fell
I deserve hell.

Jesus, thank you, for not awarding me what I deserve,
but giving me the gift
to now be in Your midst.

Remember that everything we endure or enjoy
is a present from above
for we don't deserve His love.
